Introduction

Cyberdarks are a DARK Machine-based archetype based on the anime series Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. The deck was primarily piloted by Zane Truesdale, who also piloted the Cyber Dragon deck, linking the two archetypes.

There are two types of Cyberdark decks: Fusion decks and Link decks. The Fusion variant is the focus of this guide, with room for future expansion.

Cyberdarks have two powerful Fusion Monsters at their disposal: Cyberdarkness Dragon and Cyberdark End Dragon, both of which can be used to form the devastating Buster Lock. However, the deck is extremely vulnerable to disruptions during combos, as well as having the aforementioned monsters tributed by Kaijus (e.g., Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju, Lava Golem, The Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode).

Main Deck

  • Monsters
  • Spells
  • Traps

Dragon Buster Destruction Sword

When equipped to a monster, Dragon Buster Destruction Sword creates the Buster Lock, a powerful floodgate that prevents your opponent from Summoning any monster from the Extra Deck. Ideally, you'll equip Dragon Buster Destruction Sword to Cyberdark End Dragon with the effect of Cyberdark End Dragon.

Cyber Dragon Herz

Cyber Dragon Herz primarily serves as fodder for Cybernetic Horizon, as Cyber Dragon Herz can be sent from your hand or Deck to your Graveyard, triggering its effect to add a "Cyber Dragon" from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand. Because its name is treated as "Cyber Dragon" once it is on the field or in the Graveyard, Cyber Dragon Herz can also be used as Fusion Material.

TIP: During the Cyberdark End Turbo combo, after using Cybernetic Horizon to send both Cyber Dragon Herz and Cyberdark Chimera to the Graveyard, make sure Cyber Dragon Herz is Chain Link 2 to ensure the effect of Cyberdark Chimera resolves and you have enough Fusion Materials to Fusion Summon Cyberdarkness Dragon.

Cyber Dragon Nachster

Cyber Dragon Nachster can be Special Summoned by discarding another monster from your hand. When you Normal or Special Summon Cyber Dragon Nachster, it can Special Summon a Machine monster from your Graveyard with 2100 ATK or DEF; with this effect, you can Summon Cyber Dragon, Cyberdark Chimera, Cyber Dragon Sieger, or Chimeratech Rampage Dragon.

Cyber Dragon Core

When Cyber Dragon Core is Normal Summoned, it searches the Deck for a "Cyber" Spell or Trap. Most of the time, you'll be adding Cybernetic Horizon or Cyberdark Realm, but if you already have access to them, you can add Cyberdark Invasion or Cyber Eternal to strengthen your board, or Cyber Emergency to ensure you meet the requirements to activate Cybernetic Horizon. Cyber Dragon Core can also banish itself from the Graveyard while only your opponent controls a monster to Special Summon a "Cyber Dragon" monster from the Deck for comeback plays.

TIP: If you already have access to Cyberdark Realm and Cybernetic Horizon, make sure to Normal Summon Cyber Dragon Core early during your combo to bait disruption from your opponent.

Cyber Dragon

Cyber Dragon is a versatile card in the deck. While only your opponent controls a monster, you can Special Summon Cyber Dragon to use as Link Material alongside your Normal Summon or to get rid of annoying monsters your opponent controls with Chimeratech Fortress Dragon or Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon. Furthermore, if you need to activate Cyberdark Chimera's Graveyard effect but cannot use it as Link Material, you can use Cyberdark Chimera as a Tribute to Summon Cyber Dragon. Furthermore, Cyber Dragon can be used as one of the costs to activate Cybernetic Horizon.

Attachment Cybern

As an Equip Card, Attachment Cybern gives the equipped monster 600 ATK and, when sent to the Graveyard, can Special Summon a "Cyber" monster from the Graveyard.

TIP: When equipped from the hand or field, Attachment Cybern does not count as being equipped by the Cyberdark Machine monsters' effects, so they will not gain additional ATK other than Attachment Cybern's 600 ATK boost.

Cyberdark Claw

Cyberdark Claw can be discarded to search your deck for any "Cyberdark" Spell or Trap. Cybernetic Horizon and Cyberdark Realm should always be your first choices, as both make Fusion Summoning monsters from the Extra Deck easy. Furthermore, once in the Graveyard, Cyberdark Claw can be used as an Equip Card with the effect of sending a monster from your Extra Deck to the Graveyard during damage calculation.

TIP: If you already have access to Cyberdark Realm and Cybernetic Horizon, make sure to discard Cyberdark Claw early during your combos to bait out disruption from your opponent.

Cyberdark Cannon can be discarded to search your Deck for any Machine "Cyberdark" monster (i.e., Cyberdark Chimera, Cyberdark Horn, Cyberdark Edge, or Cyberdark Keel). When in the Graveyard, Cyberdark Cannon can be used as Fusion Material to Summon Cyberdarkness Dragon. When used as an Equip Card, Cyberdark Cannon can also send a monster from your Deck to the Graveyard during damage calculation.

Cyberdark Horn, Edge, & Keel

Cyberdark Horn, Cyberdark Edge, and Cyberdark Keel are primarily used as Fusion Materials to Fusion Summon Cyberdarkness Dragon. When Normal Summoned, they can equip a Level 3 or lower Dragon monster from your Graveyard and gain half of its original ATK. The best of the three is Cyberdark Edge because it can attack directly, allowing the effects of Cyberdark Cannon and Cyberdark Claw to be easily activated. Because of its lacklustre burn effect, Cyberdark Keel is the least used. You should only use two of these three cards, as Summoning Cyberdark Dragon isn't worth it.

Cyberdark Chimera

Cyberdark Chimera is arguably the most important card in the deck because it makes Fusion Summoning monsters from the Extra Deck more consistent. You almost always want to use Cyberdark Realm's effect to additional Normal Summon Cyberdark Chimera, then use Cyberdark Chimera's effect to search your Deck for Power Bond by discarding a Spell or Trap while also allowing you to banish monsters from your Graveyard as Fusion Material. Cyberdark Chimera can then be used as Link Material together with your regular Normal Summon, triggering Cyberdark Chimera's Graveyard effect to mill a "Cyberdark" monster with a different name than the cards in your Graveyard.

Jizukiru, the Star Destroying Kaiju

Jizukiru, the Star Destroying Kaiju can be searched from your Deck by Cyber Repair Plant, and then be used to easily remove a monster from your opponent's field.

Therion "King" Regulus

Therion "King" Regulus can Special Summon itself from the hand by targeting and equipping a Machine monster from your Graveyard. You can do this in the middle of your combos to protect yourself from your opponent's disruption via a negate, or after your Cyberdark End Turbo to give yourself a double negate (Cyberdarkness Dragon can send the monster equipped to Therion "King" Regulus to the Graveyard to negate one of your opponent's cards, then Therion "King" Regulus can send itself to the Graveyard to negate another).

Cyber Eternal

After Special Summoning and equipping Cyberdarkness Dragon with Cyber End Dragon, tribute it to Special Summon Cyberdark End Dragon, then use Cyber Eternal to Special Summon Cyberdarkness Dragon back to the field from the Graveyard. Cyber Eternal can also be banished from the Graveyard to prevent the destruction of Machine "Cyber" Fusion Monsters you control.

Power Bond

Power Bond allows you to access the most powerful cards in your Extra Deck while also doubling the ATK of the monster you Summon. The only drawbacks are that you take damage equal to the ATK gained from its effect during the End Phase, and you can only use monsters from your hand or field (a limitation that can be overcome by using Cyberdark Chimera).

Overload Fusion

Overload Fusion can be used to supplement an OTK by Fusion Summoning a DARK Machine from your Extra Deck by banishing Fusion Materials from your field or Graveyard. Furthermore, if your Power Bond is disrupted or your opponent beats your Turn 1 board, Overload Fusion is a viable recovery option.

Cyber Emergency

Cyber Emergency can search your Deck for any "Cyber Dragon" monster. You'll mostly be adding Cyber Dragon Core with this effect. If you don't have any monsters to use with Cybernetic Horizon, you can add Cyber Dragon Herz instead.

Cybernetic Horizon

Cybernetic Horizon sends Fusion Materials to the Graveyard from both your Main Deck and Extra Deck. The best monsters to send to the Graveyard for cost are Cyber Dragon Herz and one of Cyberdark Horn, Cyberdark Edge, or Cyberdark Keel, with other card combinations being suboptimal but acceptable. On effect resolution, the best Extra Deck monsters to send to the Graveyard are Cyber Eternity Dragon to protect your Fusion Monsters during an OTK, or Cyber End Dragon to equip to Cyberdarkness Dragon.

TIP: If you don't have enough Cyberdark monsters to Fusion Summon Cyberdarkness Dragon, you can use the effect of Cybernetic Horizon to send Cyberdark Dragon to the Graveyard instead to help meet the requirements.

Cyberdark Realm

Cyberdark Realm allows you to search your deck for any "Cyberdark" monster with a name that differs from the cards in your Graveyard. With this effect, you'll primarily want to add either Cyberdark Claw or Cyberdark Cannon to your hand. Furthermore, Cyberdark Realm allows you to Normal Summon a "Cyberdark" monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set.

Dragon Shrine & Foolish Burial

Dragon Shrine & Foolish Burial can be used to send Dragon Buster Destruction Sword from your Deck to the Graveyard to be equipped to Cyberdark End Dragon, creating the Buster Lock. They can also be used to bait disruption from your opponent or to send another monster to the Graveyard to be used as Fusion Material.

Cyber Repair Plant searches your Deck for a LIGHT Machine monster to use in your combos, such as Cyber Dragon Herz, Cyber Dragon Core, and Cyber Dragon, or Jizukiru, the Star Destroying Kaiju, which can be used to easily remove a monster from your opponent's field.

Clockwork Night

Clockwork Night is a versatile card that can boost your monsters' ATK/DEF by 500 while decreasing your opponents' by 500. It also makes removing monsters from your opponent's board simple by making them all Machine type, allowing you to send them to the Graveyard with Chimeratech Fortress Dragon. It can also be sent to the Graveyard by the effect of Cyberdark Chimera and then banished to search the Deck for Therion "King" Regulus.

Cyberdark Invasion

Cyberdark Invasion can equip a Machine or Dragon monster from either Graveyard to a "Cyberdark" you control. This is normally used to provide more fuel to Cyberdarkness Dragon for disruption. Additionally, equips on Cyberdark End Dragon grant it more attacks per Battle Phase. Cyberdark Invasion can also destroy one of your opponent's cards by sending an Equip Card you control to the Graveyard.

TIP: Keep in mind that the destructive effect of Cyberdark Invasion does not target.

Extra Deck

Chimeratech Rampage Dragon

Chimeratech Rampage Dragon allows for more aggressive play and OTKs, especially when combined with Cyber Dragon Sieger. When Fusion Summoned, Chimeratech Rampage Dragon can destroy Spells or Traps on the field up to the number of Fusion Materials used. It can also send up to two LIGHT Machine monsters from the Deck to the Graveyard, gaining an extra attack for each card sent.

Cyberdark Dragon

When you're unable to get five Main Deck "Cyberdark" cards for the Fusion Summon of Cyberdarkness Dragon, you can send Cyberdark Dragon to the Graveyard from the Extra Deck with Cybernetic Horizon to be used as Fusion Material.

Chimeratech Overdragon

Chimeratech Overdragon is a Fusion Monster that can be Summoned by fusing a "Cyber Dragon" and one or more Machine monsters, and it is used to destroy your opponents' monsters and OTK.

TIP: Keep in mind that when you Fusion Summon Chimeratech Overdragon, all other cards you control are sent to the Graveyard.

Cyber End Dragon

The main purpose of Cyber End Dragon is to be sent to the Graveyard with Cybernetic Horizon and equipped onto Cyberdarkness Dragon to grant an ATK boost and the option of Summoning Cyberdark End Dragon. It can also be Fusion Summoned with Power Bond for OTK.

Cyber Eternity Dragon

When going for an OTK, Cyber Eternity Dragon can be sent from the Extra Deck to the Graveyard with the effect of Cybernetic Horizon to protect your Fusion Monsters from being targeted or destroyed for a turn.

Cyberdarkness Dragon

Cyberdarkness Dragon can be Fusion Summoned with five "Cyberdark" Effect Monsters as materials. When Special Summoned, it can equip a Dragon or Machine from your Graveyard to itself, increasing Cyberdarkness Dragon's ATK by the equipped monster's original ATK. The majority of the time, you'll want to equip Cyber End Dragon for the 4000 ATK boost and the option to Special Summon Cyberdark End Dragon.

Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon

Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon can be Special Summoned from the Extra Deck using a "Cyber Dragon" monster and monsters from the Extra Monster Zone as material, making it an easy way to get rid of an opponent's monster(s).

Chimeratech Fortress Dragon

You can Special Summon Chimeratech Fortress Dragon from the Extra Deck with a "Cyber Dragon" and one or more Machine monsters from either field, making it an easy way to get rid of your opponent's Machine monsters (or all of your opponent's monsters if Clockwork Night is on the field).

Cyberdark End Dragon

Most commonly Summoned by tributing a Cyberdarkness Dragon equipped with a Cyber End Dragon, Cyberdark End Dragon is the ultimate beat-stick, being unaffected by your opponent's activated effects and being able to attack a number of times per turn depending on the number of cards equipped to it.

TIP: Keep in mind that Cyberdark End Dragon is still vulnerable to continuous effects like Destiny HERO - Plasma and Skill Drain.

Cyber Dragon Sieger

Cyber Dragon Sieger can be Link Summoned by linking any Machine and a "Cyber Dragon" monster. Because it is treated as a "Cyber Dragon" while on the field or in the Graveyard, it can be used as Fusion Material, or its effect can be used to increase the ATK/DEF of any Machine monster with 2100 current ATK or more by another 2100.

Predaplant Verte Anaconda

Predaplant Verte Anaconda can be Link Summoned by linking any two Effect Monsters, allowing you to use Overload Fusion from your deck for 2000 LP but preventing you from Special Summoning for the rest of the turn. This can be used to Fusion Summon Chimeratech Overdragon, Chimeratech Rampage Dragon, Cyberdarkness Dragon or Cyberdark End Dragon.

Elder Entity N'tss

Elder Entity N'tss can be sent from the Extra Deck to the Graveyard by using the effect of Cyberdark Claw (when treated as an Equip Card) to destroy an opponent's card.

Wind Pegasus @Ignister

Wind Pegasus @Ignister can be sent from the Extra Deck to the Graveyard by using the effect of Cyberdark Claw (when treated as an Equip Card). When your opponent destroys a card you control, Wind Pegasus @Ignister can shuffle a card your opponent controls into the deck by banishing itself from the Graveyard.

Salamangreat Almiraj

When you have a single Cyberdark Chimera on the field and need to use its Graveyard effect to meet the requirements to Fusion Summon Cyberdarkness Dragon, you can use it as Link Material to summon Salamangreat Almiraj. When Salamangreat Almiraj is on the field, it can Tribute itself to protect a monster you control from being destroyed by your opponent's card effects, which is useful when going for an OTK.

TIP: If you need Dragon Buster Destruction Sword in the Graveyard to use as an Equip Card, you can Normal Summon it and use it as Link Material to Summon Salamangreat Almiraj. Keep in mind that if you Summon Salamangreat Almiraj, you will be unable to use Cybernetic Horizon that turn.

Barricadeborg Blocker

Barricadeborg Blocker can be Link Summoned instead of Cyber Dragon Sieger to discard Dragon Buster Destruction Sword to the Graveyard for Cyberdark End Dragon to equip. It can also prevent the destruction of your Cyberdark Realm and Clockwork Night.

Qliphort Genius

Qliphort Genius can be Link Summoned instead of Cyber Dragon Sieger to negate a face-up card your opponent controls for a turn. It can also bait disruption from your opponent, who may be unaware that it is unaffected by Link, Spell, and Trap effects.

Tech Cards

IMPORTANT: Since Cyberdark Chimera requires any Spell or Trap to be in your hand to activate its effect, make sure you prioritise using tech cards that are Spells and Traps.

TIP: If your opponent uses disruption while you have a Spell or Trap in your hand that can negate it, such as Crossout Designator, Called by the Grave, or Red Reboot, use those cards only if your opponent will disrupt a critical part of your combo, and save them to be discarded with Cyberdark Chimera.

Example Decklist

cp-ur 390 + cp-sr 180
7 UR Craft Required 4 UR SD/Bundle/PVE
40 cards

Combos

There are several intricate combinations and plays you can make with Cyberdarks, but the two most common ones are Cyberdark End Turbo and Rampage OTK. These combos require you to have Cyber Dragon Core and one of Cyberdark Horn or Cyber Dragon Herz in addition to any Spell or Trap in your hand.

TIP: Any Cyberdark monster can be used in place of Cyberdark Horn, while any Cyber Dragon monster can be used in place of Cyber Dragon Herz.

Cyberdark End Turbo (Turn 1)

  1. Normal Summon Cyber Dragon Core. Add Cybernetic Horizon to your hand.
  2. Activate Cybernetic Horizon. Send Cyber Dragon Herz and Cyberdark Horn to the Graveyard. Send Cyber End Dragon from the Extra Deck to the Graveyard. Add Cyberdark Claw to your hand.
  3. Activate Cyber Dragon Herz, adding Cyber Dragon to your hand.
  4. Activate Cyberdark Claw. Add Cyberdark Realm to your hand.
  5. Activate Cyberdark Realm, adding Cyberdark Cannon to your hand.
  6. Activate Cyberdark Cannon, adding Cyberdark Chimera to your hand.
  7. Activate Cyberdark Realm, additional Normal Summoning Cyberdark Chimera.
  8. Activate Cyberdark Chimera, discarding a Spell or Trap to add Power Bond to your hand.
  9. Link Summon Cyber Dragon Sieger by using a Cyber Dragon Core and Cyberdark Chimera as Link Materials.
  10. Activate Cyberdark Chimera, sending a Cyberdark Edge to the Graveyard.
  11. Activate Power Bond, Fusion Summoning Cyberdarkness Dragon.
  12. Activate Cyberdarkness Dragon, equipping Cyber End Dragon.
  13. Special Summon Cyberdark End Dragon by tributing Cyberdarkness Dragon.
  14. Activate Cyberdark End Dragon, equipping a monster from either Graveyard.
  15. [Optional] Activate Cyber Eternal, special summoning Cyberdarkness Dragon from the graveyard.
  16. [Optional] Activate Cyberdarkness Dragon, equipping Cyber End Dragon.

The Cyberdark End Turbo combo will result in an end board of:

Rampage OTK (Turn 2)

  1. Normal Summon Cyber Dragon Core. Add Cybernetic Horizon to your hand.
  2. Activate Cybernetic Horizon. Send Cyber Dragon Herz and Cyberdark Horn to the Graveyard. Send Cyber Eternity Dragon from the Extra Deck to the Graveyard. Add Cyberdark Claw to your hand.
  3. Activate Cyber Dragon Herz, adding Cyber Dragon to your hand.
  4. Activate Cyberdark Claw. Add Cyberdark Realm to your hand.
  5. Activate Cyber Eternity Dragon, banishing itself from the Graveyard.
  6. Activate Cyberdark Realm, adding Cyberdark Cannon to your hand.
  7. Activate Cyberdark Cannon, adding Cyberdark Chimera to your hand.
  8. Activate Cyberdark Realm, additional Normal Summoning Cyberdark Chimera.
  9. Activate Cyberdark Chimera, discarding a Spell or Trap to add Power Bond to your hand.
  10. Link Summon Cyber Dragon Sieger by using a Cyber Dragon Core and Cyberdark Chimera as Link Materials.
  11. Activate Cyberdark Chimera, sending Cyberdark Edge to the Graveyard.
  12. Activate Power Bond, Fusion Summoning Chimeratech Rampage Dragon.
  13. Activate Chimeratech Rampage Dragon, sending two LIGHT Machines to the Graveyard, granting two additional attacks.

The Rampage OTK combo results in an endboard of:

Conclusion

Because the majority of the core cards are available through structure deck purchases, Cyberdark is a fun, low-cost deck. Being able to disrupt your opponents with Cyberdarkness Dragon multiple times per turn, OTK-ing your opponent with Chimeratech Rampage Dragon and Cyberdark End Dragon, and completely preventing your opponent from using the Extra Deck with Dragon Buster Destruction Sword provides a diverse set of play styles contained within a single deck.

Yeah, unless you're willing to run Dragon Shrine and/or Foolish Burial to send Buster to the GY. The Lock used to be very consistent with Union Carrier, but it deserved to be banned.

so is buster worth it in this deck anymore?

It raises the ceiling of the deck at the cost of consistency. Just depends on your preference. Personally, I wouldn't play it because it's a dead card going second.

Great post ! I would add few more things :

  • You can go for Rampage OTK with only Cyber Dragon Core and any spell/trap (2 cards combo): summon core to search realm, use realm to search chimera, additional normal summon chimera, use it's effect to search power bond, link summon Sieger with core+chimera, use power bond to summon Rampage, with core (in GY) + Sieger (on field, considered as Cyber Dragon).
  • Other tools I like to add are Monster Express; Gear Gitant X; Fusion tag and Platinum Gadget :
  • 2 cards combo : needed in hand fusion tag, cybernetic horizon, one monster and one spell/trap to discard :use cybernetic horizon, discard any light + cyberdark claw, discard Cyber End Dragon, add chimera to your hand. Summon chimera, search power bond, use fusion tag on chimera to make it be considered as Cyberdark Dragon, use power bond with Cyber End Dragon (in GY) and chimera (field) to summon 10 000 atk Cyberdark End Dragon, equip it with Claw (for N'Tss later for example).
  • Same thing can be done with Monster Express : Need Monster Express+Horizon, summon Monster Express, use it's effect on himself to discard Cyberdark Dragon from extra deck, use cybernetic horizon to search claw and discard Cyber End Dragon, use claw to search realm, use realm to search and summon Chimera, use it's effect to search power bond, you can summon Gear Gitant X to search Cyber Dragon Core before summoning your 10 000 atk Cyberdark End Dragon equipped with claw. Platinum Gadget is here to save the day when you have to summon Core early to let you have a 3rd summon this turn.
  • I run clockwork by night x3 to break board going 2nd, but when you go 1st you can use it to search Monster Express (use Chimera to discard it to search power bond) .
  • I also run 2 copies of Magician's soul and 1 copie of Illusion of chaos, they help you play versus Secret Village of The spellcasters and they can help you recycle Realm after it's first use (or any other dead card such as extra Realm or Horizon, or even Cannon once equipped to draw up to 3 cards)

I also like to run 3x Summon Limit because they don't really affect you (after your 1st turn you won't likely play more than 2 monsters per turn) and they can make the opponent surrender if they have no counter and rely on link, synchro, or XYZ

That is all that comes through my mind at the moment!

Time for a refreshed version maybe 🤔
