Notes & Combos
I don't have to tell you anything about the state of the current meta...
Tried Fire King Tri-Brigade to get to Duelist Lv. 20 and it worked ... fine. The Tri-Brigades provide a lot of link fodder and every once in a while the Shuraig non-target banish is just op. But don't expect to get to that often.
MVP in this deck is definetly "Flametongue the Burning Blade"! Banishing Kirin from grave with the Tri-Brigades to then add it back with Flametongue was crazy good, being able to trigger Garunix basically whenever I want during the opponents turn. Flametongue is also one of the only ways to recover a banished Garunix (revolt can do so as well, but is less accessible).
Diabell is great to trigger the Tri-Brigades on discard and bait handtraps. Speaking of ...
The deck plays well into fuwalos and decent into other 1-for-1 handtraps like ash, veiler, imperm, since we can dodge a fair amount with kirin, or just don't care at all.
Maxx C is another story. Lancea isn't too bad against th deck, since it prevents all the Tri-Brigades, but we can usually still rely on pure Fire King if that happens.
Now that doesn't mean this deck is without issues. A decent amount of times I had too many normal summons, because of the sometimes useless Tri-Brigades in hand. So bricking, or at least not havin multiple pushes with the deck was definetly an issue. The grind game of the deck itself is fine, but sometimes card advantage/economy goes downhill petty fast, especally if the opponent disrupts your plays, which are usually resource heavy when you have to destroy your own cards to get going.
Cards I did not play: No lancea since i did not face that many maliss duelists. When facing maliss you have a decent fighting chance, since removing the first few monsters they summon migt just be enough, but if not... you are cooked.
I could argue to play more fire king sky burns, it is one of the best cards for disruption, dodging, breaking boards, but adding another one seemes bricky, as it does not start our plays, and neither is it a monster to pop with our other cards ...
Thought about Ash + Poplar, but it thought that would just add unnecessary normal summons, when we already have enough.
All in all though the deck is pretty fun and satisfying to play. Is it better than pure Fire King or Snake-Eye Fire King? Probably not, but it was a nice refresh in the rather stale meta.
