Notes & Combos
Magistus Fiendsmith. Played most of the duelist cup with vaalmonica but wanted to try out the new shiny toy as well later. Deck felt pretty good, but it's actually one of the few times where I've felt like the extra deck space was a bottleneck. Not like with couple more slots the deck would output gigantic boards but it's about the various options.
said extra deck options: ninaruru - great for otk and backrow removal on turn 2; aiwass - gives your floodgate 1000 atk and can also be summoned with aleister for the snatch steal effect; 2nd copy of chorozo - good for follow-up plays.
those and some more cards are great, and can definitely be swapped around if you so choose. One of the flex options in this extra deck is endymion, but they help out in cases you get drolled or fuwa'd.
Reason for fiendsmith: engraver or tract is a full magistus combo. Saw that combo recently from some other magistus decklist on this site and thought it was super cool. Basically:
tract - lurrie discard and ss himself - requiem - lacrima send engraver - engraver ss from gy - make sequence - fusion summon the extra deck lacrima from engraver and requiem - special back main deck lacrima from grave - make lyna with sequence and ed lacrima - equip sequence to md lacrima - make chorozo from lyna and sequence - make zoroa equip it with artemis and search spenta then do the magistus stuff
if you used up your normal summon on lurrie or lacrima, do everything the same way, but search crowley with spenta instead of zoroa or rilliona, then fusion into magistus omega without using his banish effect. Use zoroa's effect from grave to pop omega, then omega's effect when destroyed will summon rilliona from deck.
Overall, I think this way of playing magistus is very good for the same reason as any other deck running fiendsmith: it helps to bait out interruptions from opponent, or help play into an established board. But it also serves as a way to get into the deck's engine, which is quite cool.
