Notes & Combos
After deranking back to Master 5 with Melodious with 17 hand traps decided to just try my favorite deck and climb to Master 1 and it went better than I thought. From Master 5 - 3 I was playing this deck, then played Melodious again into Master 2, then back to Zoodiac to finally make it to Master 1.
While for sure not the best deck in our current meta (and for sure not the best list), there were some advantages of going heavy with GY hate. 60 card piles are quite common in Master rank, so i decided to go for a build a that will most often completely kill those decks by playing Crow, Droll, and Bystials. Crow is also great against other decks as Tenpai going first has a tendency of going into Bident instead of Seals pass immediately. Also only lost to Gimmick Puppet once as it has similar weaknesses to the 60 card Tear pile. Another advantage is that so many forgot what this deck even does outside of Zeus turbo. You could add a Kataroost to protect against Monster-targetted effects as I had so many games where people were wasting game winning traps that target on a Zoodiac XYZ with Ramram as material.
There are some bad matches up though. Tenpai going second is likely to win assuming they don't misplay, Centurion can potentially ignore the vast amount of your hand traps. The deck can be built for a more favorable match-up against those two scenarios, however I did not think it was worth weakening the decks against the match-ups mentioned above.
Mid-tier match-ups would be Snake-eyes, Yubel, and maybe Melodious and White Forest (never played against Melodious/WF with Zoodiac). Tons of hand traps are ideal against Snake-eyes in general, same goes for Yubel, but they can sometimes deal with Zeus turbo by ending on a half-board through 2-3 hand traps. Whiptail is amazing against Yubel though, won two games against them because I banished their Phantom on the field during battle then went Zeus. I have no idea about WF; but Crow, and Bystials should help. You are likely winning against Melodious if you prevent Flowering from ever being summoned. Outside of Flowering they often have nothing to stop Zeus from wiping their board.
