Notes & Combos

I've been a huge fan of the meme archetype and really want to be better at it because it makes me feel more skillful as a player. This deck was played for the most part in master2-3. My set rotation involves 2 other decks:

Meme is very fun and flexible as long as the pilot is adept. The real challenge is to get your options clear and correct during the opponent's turn (prime example: witch or horn dragon?), on top of time pressures. Although truth to be told, this deck now suffers from low ceiling and it's not that consistent (feels rather like some ritual decks), and it's also very skill-heavy so is naturally falling out of favor. The funny thing is, most people just won't scoop like they would otherwise when you normal summon a meme starter (compared to say, normal summoning Girsu or opens a mitsurugi play), because this deck is so prone to time and mistakes, this really makes climbing with the meme deck even more time-consuming.

This deck can play through some handtraps and even has some good options if got hit by maxx C.

Being hit by fuwalos is a different story, in which case you just try getting your engine set in place (mostly the GY) by giving only the strictly necessary draws.

Purulia could actually sting a bit more since you mostly have to summon from hand 3 times.

goblin is at 2 even without grand breakout because of its better utility (being able to send fusion to the GY is very huge). darkblade is cut to 2 because it dies to drawer handtraps too hard and is mostly an equivalent to witch.

for non-engine:

-the lone fiendSchmidt mann is played to make caesar, which is not only very good in the currtent meta, but also provides invaluable improvement to the major drawback of the meme end board, that is, the lack of hard negates. other options like running borrel savage feels to bricky to me in terms of extra deck utility tradeoffs so I opted for this one. This card is a bad brick to be fair but its utility is very justifiable.

-droll is at 1 since it conflicts with maxx c and the like but playing at 2 is also reasonable since this deck can sometimes use it to stop the opponent's maxx C.

-the rock is at 2 so that I may pray to draw it with my drawers in dire situations.

The most recent 3 are from this month, each showcases (from the earliest):

-handtrap resillience (both fusion and goblin failed to resolve yet still built a standard turn1 board);

-going 2nd potentials (finishing by battle under maxx c);

-plays to be made from a turn1 board during the opponent's turn (branded is just so good into a meme's regular end board even when apollousa was legal)

and there are another 2 replays of this deck from earlier times that I find worth saving.
