Notes & Combos
Somewhat of a lengthy climb to m1. More of my wins were hand comparisons than actually getting to play the game.
I got to m5 earlier in the month using Tachyon, but the new onomat cards came out so I decided to play Utopics again for a change, and I've had fun using them so far, albeit the game can be very frustrating at times.
This deck loses to the same things as ryzeal does, but on top of that your engine doesn't play into boards nearly as well, your extenders are incredibly conditional compared to the ryzeal names, and you tend to burn through your resources very fast with little to no recursion. It is also worth mentioning you don't really have any solid plays into being turn skipped, droll ends your turn completely and you have to rely on any handtraps you might have opened, the best you can do under a charmy/roach is search an interruption, either the counter trap or nibiru, and add followup from your detached onomat name then pray you live to see your next turn.
That said, when you do get to go full combo, your board is pretty much as strong if not stronger than the average board any other deck produces, you'll only lose to blowouts generally, shout out spoly and droplet. The board you do want to be ending on is udf, ufz, starliege and dragonar to summon 38 turn 2. Your whole field is untargetable this way, where most of your interruptions are anyway.
Played around with some choices while climbing, I did run Ultimate Leo Utopia Ray for a bit, and while it is a very good endboard piece, you generally can't end on starliege as well and drawing Pegasus Twin Saber honestly sucks. You also become a little more susceptible to board breakers, given ufz is targetable. Tried imperm for a bit, came across to me as a cope handtrap in general, ran droplet for a little while but found that you generally care about having your cards in hand and field. Ended up just running 3 talents as I do with Tachyon, given I'm just expecting to be interacted with, the backrow hate is there because playing into Sky Striker which I came across often is borderline imposible without it, can help against other matchups in general as well.
Overall I've had fun playing the deck so far, but if you want something with more consistent plays it's just better to play ryzeal.
Replays
Don't have many replays but I've saved 2 or 3 to my profile, last one should be my rank up match into strikerpai which I think is a decent example of how the deck operates.
