Notes & Combos

At the time of writing this, it is ashame that Fiendsmith Orcust and Pure Orcust are not classified differently because there are some overlooked pros of just playing pure orcust.

PROS

• More Handtraps. Without the fiendsmith cards we are allowed to add more handtraps like Impulse which has saved me multiple times that I consider it a core card of the deck

• Can play under droll easily. Although this statement applies to fiendsmith too it doesn't apply to mitsu orcust as that is another popular way to play orcust.

• Can play more tech cards. A lot of cards in the extra deck can be replaced so a good tech would be super poly. Main deck could also include a wide variety of tech cards like thrust into dimensional barrier.

CONS

• Despite me praising pure orcust, in a tournament setting Fiendsmith Orcust is arguably the better deck as the fiendsmith engine allows more interuptions and plays. Also they have a searchable kaiju where we have to draw into ours to deal with lunalight.

• Losing Orcustrated Babel to harpie's feather duster and heavy storm is the worse outcome that can happen and sometimes we don't have access to our counter trap because we decided to search the field spell instead.

• Our normal summon is more important to us then other orcust variants. Usually if my opponent can disrupt my normal summon by returning my orcust monster to the hand or banishing it then I'm just out of luck.

Some other notes in the deck is what I feel are the underrated cards in Orcust. This is of course Orcust Brass Bombard and Orcust Einsatz. Orcust Einsatz was only really use if I had the other orcust spell/trap in my hand. If my opponent bystial a important orcust monster I can usually send another copy to the gy. Or if my opponent disrupt my combo too much then I can just sit on the counter trap and just follow up with disrupts on their turn. This is where sirius came in handy. Finally Orcust Brass Bombard was really useful if I had multiple orcust monsters in the hand. Good for baiting out a enemy impulse or ash if they decide to negate Galatea thinking we have no follow up.

Overall, I do hope that the website differentiate the orcust variants as I do believe not many people would hate on orcust as much if it was just pure. To be fair that could be said about a lot of other decks.
