Notes & Combos

I had unfinished business from last month, so I had to take care of it: reached M1 playing Drytron my way - and just in time for the Mitsu release.

The format obviously is the same **** as before, but with a key difference: there was slightly more Ryzeal than last month. Gotta thank the DC top duelists for that one.

The changes:

Compared to last month, the main differences are that I added more copies of Nu and that I leaned more into the Vanity's Ruler minigame by adding Prep and Sauravis. I cut the 4k ATK Drytron Ritual, as neither of them comes up. Quad could be useful vs actual backrow decks, but you barely see those. Draconids is useful once every 100 games.

Additionally, I ran more copies of Thrust and an actual target for it - first I used Fucho and Feather Storm, then I cut both and ran Daruma instead. Beyond that I turned some 3-ofs into 2-ofs, because that just feels (and likely is) correct in my types of decks. That space was used to add Eclipse, a versatile boardbreaker that can also protect your own plays and bait Ash.

The gameplan:

The general goal is to stick a combination of Vanity's Ruler, DAD, I:P and Dragoon onto the board.

Considering how MD is infested with terribly designed, lingering HTs, running Ruler is mandatory. We are in an environment, where you must expect Maxx "C", Fuwa and others regularly. Ruler is your in-engine way to play into those. So, this deck revolves around getting to Ruler through disruption. Your goal is basically to search Ruler and to stick 2+ bodies onto the field.

Dragoon, the other main pillar besides Ruler benefits from this approach greatly, too, btw.

Important to know: Dragoon is ******* amazing here.

Once you summon Ruler, you also turn off cards like Bystials/Nibiru - allowing you more freedom.

However, all decks besides the boardbreaker decks usually run targeting outs to Ruler, e.g., Imperm. Instead of being a b**** and relying on Crossout, we play honest YGO and use the engine to get to solutions.

I was contemplating running the Herald HTs for a while, but eventually went for Sauravis, a versatile protection card. This is also the reason why Prep is so good here. It can search Benten or Sauravis. Together with Nu/Alpha, you have great resilience.

About matchups, cause I am running out of chars: Going 2nd v Maliss is often a loss, but sometimes you can still win. Going first you are fine. Your Ryzeal matchup is really good. The rest is solid, too.
