Notes & Combos

MVPs for this season are Cyclone and Droplet. Both are good turn 2 cards whether you get to go first or second.

  • deck is good but not super consistent like top tiers in decisive matches.
  • droplet helps with non-target negate(decks like VV, FK, Yubel etc. can dodge impermanence) and dump garnets like frogs and angler from hand to GY to trigger their effects.
  • cyclone is there for stun and backrow interruption.
  • many players don't MaxxC/Ash/Gamma on summon of B.Beast(may be thinking it's Yubel) so you can setup monster negate(Djinn) first using 2 B.Beasts only if you have Blue/Jet in hand to extend.
  • board: elf+i:p+carrot. if able to extend then monster negate(Djinn/Red)
  • ty-phon and goddess never got played.

yes, it helps to otk through board easily more often(without using gamma burst) if opponent has big chungus monster in atk/def position since mosquito inflict damage each time based of ATK of that monster for your each monsters that battles in battle phase. don't need to craft, players can eventually pull it from legacy pack.

Several questions:

  1. Is this deck tailored to mainly go first or second?
  2. What are the ideal endboards for going first?
  3. How did the overall grind feel? Did you struggle a lot or it was a walk in the park?
  4. How did this deck fare against stun?

  1. Mainly go first, backed with handtraps/boardbreakers. The goal is to stop opponent from setting up a full board with handtraps at choke points. In most of matches, had opened up with minimum 1-2 form of interruptions.
  2. Elf + I:P(for S:P) + Carrot + Red + Djinn + Sprind(use its bounce effect if decided not to use Djinn negate) + Ronin & Swap frog in GY for follow up(Dupe frog will be banished with 1 use of Ronin) + any additional interruptions(cyclone, droplet, maxx c, ash, imp, calledby etc).
  3. Overall it was like 3 steps forward and 1 step backward. If going 2nd, didn't had any form of interruptions in hand and opponent has plays, it was pretty much GG since Frogs and Nimble package has banlist hit so engine alone can't break boards(except Kashtira board). Any single missplays were also GG moment for me.
  4. Going 1st is manageable. Going 2nd, if stun had too many backrows(>=3) or plays beyond turn 3 was Game Over. Not had that many stun match ups(may be 1 match on every rank brackets)
