Time taken from M5-M1: 8+ hours, Final push from M3-M1 done in above 5hrs 9/6/2025, last 20 games: 13-7.
The climb to M2 was quick until I got hit with "You are going second" streak, tyvm Konami :').
Despite Konami claiming that maliss is less popular than ryzeal in ladder, I did not have that luck in my climb.
- Now to the deck itself, if you are reading this you wonder "wtf is this jank?"
Well, let me explain, the deck had more generic handtraps at the start, veiler, imperm, droll, but the shuffler, matchups and coin flips got so bad that I swapped handtraps multiple times, the only games where handtraps did something going 2nd were the ones that resolved a charmy/maxx c, so everything else was handlooping me for free.
Super poly and primite are there because I really love those cards, primite adds an extra interruption and follow up that keeps you a float in handtrap battles, while super poly can stop maliss from link climbing or protect your monsters from target destruction against ryzeal.
- If maliss is the most "common" and hardest matchup, why no lancea?
I simply do not like to sack 1 deck in the meta with a tailor made floodgate, it was an aditional challenge for the run.
- What is that extra deck?
The extra was designed to do minimal plays against maxx c and fuwaloss, for the reason I mentioned above, if you resolve your combo uninterrupted, you are probably going to win anyways, so summoning even more stuff is not going to change that.
- No tachyon?
Loses to droll, takes at least 1 ED slot, goes -1 and most important of all: 120+ UR 🥶. I know is more consistency, but I feel it is not mandatory to climb and they will be replaced by Mitsurugi in the future anyways.
Most relevant generic ED cards were Bagooska, Exciton, Earth golem, and Triphyoverutum.
In the end, the problem itself is not which handtraps to play, but being coin flip meta.
Funny note: I lost a game where a branded forced me to drill beam earlier with aluber; that is why I put a 1900 def vanilla. The reason why it is earth is to avoid bystials and another special summon that you can use against the earth barrier statue.
