Notes & Combos

I failed.

My attempt at getting Drytron to M1 "my way" (aka: no lame staples like generic HTs without real deck synergy, not at 40 cards and with a lot of engine cards) failed. Those staples are not even that good in Drytron in particular, which is the funny part...anyways:

over the course of 4 days, I hit M3 three times in total, each time with a different Drytron build - one of them being a wild one with Reasoning. But still, it was not meant to be. I gave up.

Main problem of the Drytron attempts was that Maliss was way too good against you. I did not see a good way to consistently beat that deck.

I was able to defeat other decks often enough, but Maliss was too much to handle. If I gave myself more time, I could have grinded to M1, I believe - especially at the end of the month, where there should be less and less (good) Maliss players left.

And before I start to completely give up "my" way of playing, I can just accept defeat. What is the point of scumming your way to M1 by simply spamming games and not facing too many Maliss players hopefully? I would count that as a loss here, as I would not have managed to really best the format.

Oh right, Ryzeal deck profile.

Honestly? Only reason this deck is any playable is the fact that you can play 40 and enough non-engine cards. Lame as ****. Maliss diffs this deck so much, it is not funny.

Using Ryzeals to navigate through disruptions is actually relatively fun - you could make some fun engine-piles in Disneyland. The rest of the deck and format is not, however. Konami needs to listen to their brains, not the players, and start adressing the real issues.

Starting with deciding how they want to balance the game: do they want to balance the game around HTs or engines?

Reaching M1 with a deck like this one does not mean ****, although it was not even free. Hope we will get more ways in the future to enjoy a casual way of playing while still being moderately successful. Using a fuckton of (lingering) HTs is not my definition of skill or fun. Handtraps are not skillful in general, engines are.

Replays

I will post the last couple replays of my climb on my YouTube channel @StriderYGO soon. Same with the Drytron stuff. I will add a comment here once that happens (probably tomorrow).
