Notes & Combos
Decided not to tech in crimson dragon package because it hard loses to nib and it plays in to super poly unless you end on two spirit dragon. I use this deck more for going midrange and go for grind game just like in TCG.
Tech choice:
- 0x purge - Felt like I am just bricking on the card so I cut it out. The concept of it being an extra ash is nice with an added destroy but drawing 2 of them while you have 2 mandatory blue-eyes brick makes the deck inconsistent.
- only 1x veiler - Even if it's an extra starter, I only want 1 and as a search from sage or wishes. It's good going 2nd but droll is more effective in the meta and forces some decks to end on a half board. Can make it to 2x but up to preference
- 3x droll - Really good card as it also acts as a starter due to it being a level 1 spellcaster and link 1 into spirit. It's also a versatile handtrap to stop Maxx Cs and Mulcharmies. Very good against search reliant decks.
- Blue-Eyes Jet Dragon - There is a very funny sequence for this card and the synchro 9 spirit dragon where if I destroy a card, I special summon jet. Once jet hits the field, you special summon azure eyes by using synchro spirit dragon. Once it resolves, Your backrow can't be popped because jet prevents destruction of other cards other than jet while azure eyes makes dragon monsters untargetable and cannot be destroyed.
- 1x Nib - I just put it to 1 because I thought any more than that is a brick. It is really good for removal against comboes but you're already running 16 other handtraps to disrupt the opponent. Seeing 2 in hand or drawing another copy of it feels bad especially if opponents can play through it. Better to have at least one or draw from Maxx C the card.
- Azure-eyes - makes dragons untargerable and they also cannot be destroyed. Niche tech but gives a nice protection until the end of the next turn. You can also use this to protect your ultimate spirit from getting destroyed at end phase.
- Lightstorm dragon - Good against mirror and snake-eye fiendsmith. If they put their/your monster to S/T Zone, you can try to pop them.
- Lyna - Good against mirror and fiendsmith to steal their light monster from grave. you can crash this to your opponent and get maiden once destroyed or steal a light monster to S:P banish.
