Notes & Combos
First time back since about Season 41. Took a long break from the game but came back just to play Lunalight, one of my favorite decks since Duel Links circa 2020. I played 64 matches and went 53-11 overall while climbing from Gold 5 to Master 5. Here are some stats:
- Overall Win Rate = 82.8%
- Win Rate Going 1st = 87.5%
- Win Rate Going 2nd = 75.0%
- Average Game Length = 2.09 Turns
This deck has a straight-forward game plan going 1st: summon both Liger Dancers, I:P Masquerena, and 1 other body on field, then have Silver Hound in the GY. On Turn 2, blow up the opponent's board with double Liger Dancers to interrupt their combos, negate a critical spell/trap with Silver Hound, and link into S:P Little Knight for a 2x-banish interrupt.
Most games won't go past Turn 2 because even if your opponent can establish a board, Liger Dancer is such a problematic card to out for most decks. Some archetypes can main-deck cards that tribute over Liger Dancer like Wousu (Mitsurugi), H.A.M.P. (Sky Striker), and Santa Claws (Fiendsmith engine). Other decks run Underworld Goddess to link it off or Accesscode Talker to attack over it. I expect more decks to tech cards like Herald of the Abyss or Lava Golem if Lunalight becomes more prevalent on the ladder.
Going 2nd is where cards like Heavy Polymerization and Lunalight Fusion shine. With this deck you can summon a Liger Dancer if the opponent has at least 2 bodies on field and you have 2 Lunalights in hand. Lunalight Fusion can use the deck or extra deck to send fusion materials if the opponent controls an extra deck monster.
Despite its simple game plan, learning the combo lines for this deck can be difficult if you're unfamiliar with all the ways to bounce Lunalights to the hand to achieve multiple activations of Chick or Wolf. Keep in mind that most decks are running Droll and some are now running Impermanence to stop Gold Leo on normal summon. You can play around Droll but that requires an extender like Luna Light Perfume in-hand.
This deck was incredibly fun to play. I've always enjoyed the Lunalight archetype even when it was a going 2nd deck with just Leo Dancer as its finisher way back during Master Duel's launch. Liger Dancer is a true boss monster that makes this deck a powerhouse going 1st. I couldn't be happier that the first deck I ever crafted is meta-relevant at last.

Replays showcase playing around disruption going 2nd, bounce combos with Chick/Wolf, a Lunalight mirror match, and a rank-up match to Master against a Nemleria stun deck (yuck).
