Notes & Combos

Mitsurugi is amazing, and it's especially good with Snake-Eye. Habakiri, Prayers, Pre-Prep, Saji, and Aramasa are all one card combos into Snake-Eye via Infernal Flame Banshee adding or sending Ash. I decided not to run the Millenium engine because Mitsurugi has powercrept it, Millenium can only make Zombie Vampire to mill 4 and potentially hit an SE card.

Mitsurugi can do that as well, while also being able to add SE Ash directly to the hand. On top of that Mitsurugi adds a lot more bodies for Link climbing, and setting Prayers with Murakumo in grave for an extra disruption on the opponent's turn. It's also way better going second than Millenium, I've had games where the Mitsurugi engine alone broke the opponent's board. Not much besides Ryzeal Cross and Imperm can stop a chain blocked Murakumo board wipe, and you can bait those out early with the Snake-Eye cards if necessary.

I'm still not 100% on the ratios and size of the deck, I tried to keep it closer to 40 than 60. I might remove Azamina in the future, but the Azamina engine has also been the difference in winning or losing duels multiple times. The current build is good but it has room for improvement.

I'm running a low handtrap count because against the top decks, not many handtraps can really stop them aside from Maxx "C"/Mulcharmys. So instead I'm running 6 of those, and relying on pure engine to break boards going second, which Mitsurugi is very good at. No Lanceas because Maliss hasn't been as common and they're bricks against everything else.

The endboard going first varies depending on your hand, but in ideal conditions I'll have:

2400-3200ATK Apollousa (3200 is more common, made early to clear board space)

Fiendsmith's Desirae with Sequence equipped

Azamina Ilia Silvia

Flamberge

I:P Masquerena as a spell

Mitsurugi Prayers set + Murakumo in grave

Princess in grave.

If you don't open a way to Azamina then you won't have Silvia, there are rare cases where you don't open Mitsurugi either, but the odds of not drawing or milling any Mitsurugi cards is low.

In total the strongest endboard has 10+ disruptions counting I:P into S:P, and Desirae's grave effect. If you go first uninterrputed, you will win. Not even Gem-Knight or Tenpai can break the board and kill.
