Notes & Combos

Disclaimer:

I’m currently missing a few key UR Extra Deck Xyz monsters like Bahamut Shark, Leviair the Sea Dragon, Number 101: Silent Honor ARK, and N.As.H. Knight. Since I didn’t want to craft them, this deck is a bit different from standard Shark lists and aims to play around those limitations.

The Deck:

I run 3 Piri Reis Map and 1 Beautunaful Princess to give the deck flexible starters or extenders. If I already have Buzzsaw Shark access, this setup lets me pivot into Surfacing Big Jaws. 3 to 1 ratio is to help make Big Jaws live for special summon if he’s already in hand.

The main downside of running Beautunaful Princess is that she uses your Normal Summon, unlike Primite Roar, which doesn’t. But I’ve chosen to include her for the added versatility and higher power ceiling she offers, especially in a “less complete” Shark deck like this one.

I also play 1 Foolish Burial Goods along with Ice Barrier to search Abyss Shark. With that and any other starter, you can consistently reach your core combo board.

Endboards:

Typical endboard (uninterrupted / through 1 handtrap, off many 2-card combos):

  • Abyss Dweller

  • Number 4: Stealth Kragen

  • Xyz Revive Splash in the GY, ready to summon Number C32: Shark Drake Veiss on your opponent’s turn

  • Plus, Hydrojet Shark is usually in the GY by this point, allowing you to search Aqua Jet Surface for strong follow-up plays on your next turn.

Best case endboards can also include:

  • A second Stealth Kragen, or

  • Number 37: Hope Woven Dragon Spider Shark

Note:

  • I’m still not sure about the optimal ratio of Piri Reis Maps to Beautunaful Princess. It really sucks to have a useless Map when I’ve already used my one Beautunaful Princess. I’ve also played with two Princesses before, so I might go back to that if I find myself running into that problem too often. I'm also considering swapping one Map for One for One to preserve the Normal Summon, but I'm not sure this spell-heavy deck can afford the monster discard cost.

  • Of course, this deck is built mainly for the Under 5-Star event, but it also looks pretty similar when played in Ranked. Switch out the two Number C32: Shark Drake Veiss for Marincess Coral Anemone, and Salamangreat Almiraj. Also add Max C of course.

  • It’s not an insanely powerful deck for Ranked play, but it’s fun and can at least be played competitively up to Diamond rank.

Feel free to drop any questions in the comments, and I’ll do my best to answer them!
